How would your life be better with a serger?

Be still my beating heart!!! I have been wanting a serger for EVER!! I have a hand-me-down sewing machine that is at least 20 yrs old, i have no Manuel for it so im really shooting in the dark every time i sew! I know having this AWESOME machine would make my projects really stand out from the crowd! I have so many ideas,but my machine would not do them justice so they just sit in the filing cabinet in my head longing for a day when i have a sewing machine that will make them proud!!!
